Donahue & Horrow obtains $4,650,000 for the family of a woman who suffered a catastrophic brain injury hours after giving birth via cesarean section at a Los Aneles Hospital

Tom Donahue and his team at Donahue & Horrow initiated a medical malpractice lawsuit in Los Angeles County Superior Court on behalf of a woman who suffered a severe anoxic brain injury about 15 hours after giving birth, and who is now in a persistent vegetative state.  In the lawsuit, multiple experts, retained by Donahue & Horrow, argued that medical evidence suggested that the brain injury was caused by the failure of multiple parties, including the hospital, attending doctors, nurses and their employers, to provide proper medical care.

While the defendants denied any responsibility for the failure to properly monitor and treat our client, including a failure to properly address her sudden onset of difficulty breathing, after multiple mediations and continued settlement discussions, and faced with Donahue & Horrow’s commitment to a jury trial, settlement was reached.  Those funds will be used to help the children of the mother, as well as care for her.
